SORSOGON CITY – Twenty students from Sorsogon City Campus have qualified as grantees of the Department of Agrarian Reform’s Programang Agraryo Iskolar program formerly known as the President Diosdado Macapagal Agrarian Scholarship Program (PDMASP) starting 2010-2011.
In a letter forwarded to the College by Maria Celestina M. Manlagnit-Tam, CESO III, Department of Agrarian Reform Regional Director, the scholars are legitimate dependents of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) who passed the regional screening and pre-qualification requirements. For a four-year college degree course they will be entitled to a tuition fee subsidy, a monthly stipend, and a book allowance of Php 7,750.00 per semester. In return the grantees are obliged to pass all their subjects and to meet the Grade Point Average of not lower 2.75 or its equivalent per semester. They must also comply with the school policies especially on academic requisites and student discipline.
Ms. Fe Romero, Coordinator for Scholarship in Sorsogon City revealed: “We have the eleven grantees here while the nine grantees are most likely in Castilla.”
The Programang Agraryo Iskolar is an innovative program of the Department of Agrarian Reform which is more of a privilege rather than an academic scholarship program.
