Some 3,000 propagules were planted on Jan 25, 2013 by nearly 600 multi-sectoral representatives in almost half a hectare area in Brgy. Gimaloto, West District, Sorsogon City under the Mangrove Reforestation and Enhancement Program of the provincial government. The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO)-LGU spearheaded the planting activity in partnership with the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and other stakeholders (Phil. Army, Phil. National Police, Phil. Information Agency, Provincial Tourism Office, Energy Development Corporation, DepEd, Provincial Agriculture Office, students of ROTC, and fisher folks). The P1-M project targeting a 25-has to be planted was granted to Seaweeds Growers Association, Inc., a people's organization composed of fisher folks of Brgy. Gimaloto, Sorsogon City.
