DENR conducts NGP visitation in Castilla, Sorsogon

SORSOGON CITY – Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Regional Executive Director, Engr. Gilbert C. Gonzales together with the Regional Technical Directors (RTDs) of Protected Areas, Wildlife and Coastal Zone Management Service (PAWCZMS), Forester Felix and RTD for Forest Managemet Service (FMS), Forester Antonio A. Abawag conducted site visitation of NGP Projects at Castilla, Sorsogon. 

PENRO Rene P. Camacho, CENRO Crisanta Marlene P. Rodriguez, PENRO and CENRO NGP Coordinators and other personnel assisted the activity.

DENR Sorsogon Information Officer Annabelle M. Barquilla said that the inspection conducted at Barangay Amomonting, Castilla, Sorsogon, which is the NGP model site, showed healthy growth of planted Mahogany trees on the lower portion of the site. “However, some dead seedlings need to be replaced, likewise strengthening the cooperation among barangay officials on the maintenance and protection is deemed necessary,” she added.

Forester Barquilla also bared that the NGP Project at Barangay Cogon, Castilla showed a good development of the fruit-bearing seedlings planted on the site. Close coordination with barangay council had been manifested in the protection and maintenance of planted seedlings.


Meanwhile, the NGP Project at Barangay Pandan, Castilla showed the proper ring weeding and staking, proper protection and maintenance by its adaptor and the commitment of the barangay council in the NGP endeavor as manifested on the status of the planting site and the healthy planted seedlings.
