PILI,
CAMARINES SUR – The National Grid
Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP), through its North Luzon Security Group,
recently conducted a security preparedness drill at its Gamu Substation in
Isabela.
The
activity conducted last June 29 aimed to enhance security awareness among employees
and security contracted personnel and test the effectiveness and reliability of
the defense plan given scenarios such as area intrusion, harassment, hostage
taking and bomb threats.
The
drill scenario involved role playing of aggressors, assault, negotiation and
emergency response. The Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Police
Office and Philippine Army (PA), who served as the assault team, engaged in the
negotiation. Members of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and Bomb Squad
detonated the improvised explosive devices while members of the Philippine Red
Cross attended to supposedly injured personnel.
Assessment
by the representatives from various participating groups followed the
simulation.
A
similar drill will be conducted at one of the major substations in Central
Luzon during the 3rd quarter of this year.
Conducted
regularly by the Security Services group in different offices and substations,
the drill seeks to test the level of alertness of assigned personnel in the
area and the efficiency of responding agencies like the PNP, PA, local
government unit of Gamu, Isabela, Philippine Red Cross, and the Bureau of Fire
Protection (BFP).
NGCP
