"Gayon" |
“Originally titled as Reyna Gayon
(Queen of Beauty), the theater play is a re-staging of the theater play
produced in the early 1990’s which is a commentary on the environmental issues
of that decade which is still very relevant in the present day,”
Community-Based Theater Group (CBTG) Bukawel Performing Arts Artistic Director
Dan Razo said. CBTG is among the pioneer member organizations of the Sorsogon
Arts Council (SAC) under the theater arts discipline.
Written by Professor Julio Mendoza of
the Bicol University and directed by Razo who also acted as the choreographer,
“Gayon” is the official entry to the 6th Tanghal in Luzon, during
the Philippine Arts Festival held at Baguio City last February 2012.
This Kasanggayahan Festival, the play was showcased as an opener
for the first night of the festival on October 8, 2012 at the Sorsogon
Provincial Capitol Park together with CBTG’s Percuzionizta Band. The show was
open to public for free. The Kasanggayahan Festival this year officially kicked
off on October 8 and will end on October 17, the foundation day of Sorsogon
province. (JJPerez, SAC/PIA Sorsogon)
