Mr. Vicente Loria, Head of the Research and Special Studies
Division of the Transmission Planning Department of the National Grid
Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) presented the 2012 Transmission
Development Plan (TDP) to delegates of the International Electric Research
Exchange (IERE) Technological Issues and Solutions (TIS) Conference hosted by MERALCO
at the Fairmont Hotel in Makati City last 16 January 2013. The TDP is a 10-year
plan (updated annually) outlining the ongoing and future projects for the
construction, management, improvement, expansion, operation, maintenance,
rehabilitation, and repair of the national transmission network. (NGCP/PIA

Commission (ERC), Ms. Mylene C. Capongcol, Director, Electric Power Industry
Mgt. Bureau (DOE), Ms. Edita Bueno, Administrator, National Electrification
Administration (NEA), and Mr. Urbano C. Mendiola, Vice President for Corporate
Services, National Power Corporation (NPC). The IERE is a worldwide, non-profit
organization responsible for creating venues for sharing electricity and energy-related

NGCP’s Smart Grid Initiatives were presented by Technical
Services Department Deputy Head, Reynaldo Abadilla, on the 2nd day of the IERE TIS Conference at the New World Hotel last
Jan. 17, 2013. Smart Grid technology makes use of digital automatic devices,
intelligent primary equipment, and advance applications to modernize substation
operations. The Antipolo Substation is NGCP’s Smart Grid pilot project.
