Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Mayo 7 (PIA) – Higit pang naging malapit sa isa’t-isa at naging buo ang relasyon ng mga kabataan mula sa tatlong bayan ng Sorsogon matapos ang isinagawang Summer Youth Camp at 1^st General Alumni ng mga ito sa pakikipagkawing sa Integrated Rural Development Foundation (IRDF) mula Mayo 3, 2013 hanggang kahapon sa Casini Elementary School sa Irosin, Sorsogon.

Tema ng aktibidad ang “Nagkakaisang Kabataan sa Sorsogon Tungo sa Paghubog ng Kasanayan sa Isports, Talento, Pananaw, at Desisyon”.

Nilahukan ito ng mga kabataang edad 13 hanggang 30 mula sa mga bayan ng Bulan, Matnog at Irosin. Karamihan sa mga ito ay nakatapos lamang ng elementarya, nagsimulang magtrabaho sa murang edad, habang ang iilan ay may bisyo ng paninigarilyo.

Ayon kay Aby L. Salceda, over-all chairperson ng Bulan, Irosin, Matnog and Juban Association (BIMJA), layunin ng apat na araw na aktibidad na magabayan ang mga kabataang ito ng tama nang sa gayon ay maging higit na produktibo at hindi lamang nakatuon ang mga aktibidad sa palaro o pagdayo sa iba-ibang lugar kung saan mayroong sayawan.

Ginawa namang balanse ang aktibidad kung saan nagkaroon ng mga sport activities, mga patimpalak sa pagandahan at lecture-workshop ukol sa mahalagang papel ng kabataan sa pamilya, sa kalikasan, sa edukasyon at sa hanapbuhay. Sa pamamagitan ng palabas na tinawag na “living portrait” ng mga kabataan, lumabas ang mga isyung may kaugnayan sa suliranin sa magulang, pagrerebelde, pagkasira ng pag-aaral, pagbibisyo at maagang pagbubuntis sa mga reyalidad na kinakaharap nila.

Sa bahagi naman ng komunidad, lumabas ang corruption, political will, geothermal exploration, illegal na pagpuputol ng kahoy, suliranin sa kalusugan at mga pag-aalsa ng komunidad sa mga pangunahing isyung nakikita ng mga kabataan.

Ayon sa kanila, inspirasyon sa kanila ang nakuhang mga input sa pagharap sa malaking hamon ng pagiging kabataan. Nagpasalamat din ang mga ito sa mga tumulong upang maging matagumpay ang kanilang aktibidad at aminado umano silang malaki ang naitulong nito sa kanila upang higit na maunawaan ang mahalagang papel ng kabataan sa pamilya, komunidad at kalikasan.

Comelec Sorsogon walang naitalang problema sa ginawang pagsusuri at pagseselyo ng PCOS machine

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Mayo 7 (PIA) – Walang naitalang anumang problema ang Comelec Sorsogon matapos ang ginawang pagsusuri ng mga Precinct Counting Optical Scan (PCOS) machine kahapon bilang paghahanda sa eleksyon sa Mayo 13, 2013, ito ang naging pahayag ni Comelec Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Calixto Aquino.

Ayon kay Atty. Aquino, alas syete ng umaga kahapon ng simulan ang pagdadala ng mga PCOS machine sa 690 na mga clustered precincts sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng Sorsogon.

Alas-nueve ng umaga nang sinimulan ang pagsusuri sa makina sa pamamagitan ng isang mock election, naroroon ang isang technician upang gabayan ang Board of Election Inspector at tiyaking maayos ang kondisyon ng makina bago ang ginawang pagseselyo. 

Bago magtanghali ay natiyak na ng Comelec base sa mga nakarating sa kanilang ulat na walang anumang aberyang kinaharap ang mga naideliber na PCOS machine sa Sorsogon.

Kaugnay nito, tiniyak ng Comelec Sorsogon na handang-handa na ito para sa gagawing halalan sa Lunes.

Pagseselyo ng PCOS Machine

Samantala, mahigpit din ang seguridad ng mga awtoridad maging ang mga opisyal ng barangay sapagkat sa kanila ngayon nakaatang ang responsibilidad sa pagbabantay ng mga PCOS machine hanggang sa matapos ang eleksyon at tuluyan itong maibalik sa Comelec.

Ayon kay Brgy. Captain Norneto M. Gile ng Casini, Irosin, Sorsogon, sistematiko ang gagawin nilang pagbabantay sa makina sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalitan ng mga tanod na magbabantay dito. Umapela din umano siya sa mga residente na makiisa, maging alerto at agad na magsumbong sa kanila sakaling may mapansin silang kakaibang mga galaw o di kaya’y mga kaduda-dudang bagong mukhang aali-aligid sa Casini Elementary School. RESPONSIBLE VOTING FOR 2013 PHILIPPINE ELECTION

May 13, 2013, marks another mileage for Philippine Politics history. And to be a responsible voter, you must do a lot of research or asking from the authorized person or with technical knowledge, especially the new voters.  

For the second time we are using the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) MACHINE for our Automated Election.

Other than coming to your precinct on the ELECTION DAY you must know the procedure itself.

1.   Find your precinct and the status of your registration (Registration Verification and find ur full name – first name, middle name, and last name; and your date of birth – Month, Day, Year) by visiting your school precincts or nearest Comelec office or Comelec website www.comelec.gov.ph.

Tips in using Precinct Finder and ID-Printing Status Verifier at the Comelec website:

·         Fill in all NAME fields completely as you've indicated in your Application Form for registration.

·         Do not type just your MIDDLE INITIAL if you've wrote your complete MIDDLE NAME during registration.

·         In case encoding errors may have been committed by your local COMELEC office – e.g. If your name contains a JR, SR, II, III, IV, etc., try several variations of typing your name, as follows:

      in the FIRST NAME field after your first name, such as JUAN JR.

      in the LAST NAME field after your last name, such as DELA CRUZ JR.

      with a period, such as JR.

      without a period, such as JR

      with a comma and period, Such as JUAN, JR. or JUAN JR.,

      with two (or three) spaces in between, such as JUAN JR. or JUAN JR.

      a combination of the above-mentioned variations.

      If your name contains MA. or MARIA, try both variations in the FIRST NAME field.

2.   Check the Ballot Templates for the 2013 National and Local Elections.

·         This is for you to familiarize what is an actual and official ballot. Click Ballot Templates for the 2013 National and Local Elections at the Comelec website.

·         Aside from familiarizing the ballot form, the PCOS MACHINE and your registration status, you have to study the performance of the candidates or know their credentials.

       3. Know what to do on election day. You can also visit PIA’s Hatol ng Bayan at www.pia.gov.ph 

On the voting day itself:

1. Identify yourself to the Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs) by bringing a government-issued identification  card. After the BEI has properly identified you, sign the voting record, get an official ballot and proceed to the voting area.
2. Take care of your ballot by not writing anything on it other than your signature and the shades of the ovals. Do not erase anything on your ballot, or fold or tear your ballot.

3. Cast your votes by fully shading the oval beside the name of the candidates you are voting for. Half-shaded ovals might not be counted by the precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines. Do not shade more ovals than required per position. Use only the Comelec marking pen.

4. Feed the official ballot into the PCOS machine. Wait for the confirmation message on the PCOS machine saying that your ballot has been cast.

5. After feeding the ballot to the machine, the Board will stain your hand with an indelible ink.

Today searching for the performance of our politicians is much easier compared from the past elections. Search if their skill matches their candidacy position, you can search them now by using FACEBOOK FAN PAGE or GOOGLE.  Or you can use the traditional way of knowing your candidates by asking people who have knowledge and information and by watching TV like PTV, PBS, or private TV networks like GMA7, ABS-CBN, ABC, etc.

And if you have the time to ask the candidates, ask them questions that will give you concrete answers.  Never accept "CASH" to buy your vote. Vote candidates that you believed will be a true leader.  If you are honestly voting for a person who you believe can have a positive impact on Philippine Government then be it!  Set your conscience CLEAR and BE RESPONSIBLE VOTER!

Transpo partylist seeks to establish state-run driving academy

QUEZON CITY, May 3 -- With a number of road accidents that killed a student and injuring several others recently, maybe it is time for the country to have a driving academy.

In an interview over Paghahanda para sa Hatol ng Bayan, transport partylist 1-Utak is pushing for the establishment of a state sponsored driving institution that will ensure that all applicants for driver's license will be educated on road safety.

Electric Jeepney Inventor and 1-Utak Nominee Orlando Marquez said the partylist's proposed academy will manage the applications to ensure that applicants have undergone driver's training under TESDA or TESDA accredited driving schools.

Marquez said drivers must know road rules and regulations especially those whose incomes depend on the daily ferrying of passengers.

Aside from pushing for a driving academy, Marquez said they will also advocate for a Road Development Act that will preserve national roads with support from the Road User's Tax.

He said maintaining national roads will help motorists extend the shelf lives of their vehicles' parts especially tires and bearings.

This could bring about a lot of savings for motorists and drivers of public vehicles, Marquez added. (Lyndon Plantilla/Media ng Bayan)
