CITY, March 27 (PIA) – In line with the observance of the Holy Week, the Bureau
of Fire Protection (BFP) Sorsogon City spearheaded by City Fire Marshal SInsp
Walter Badong Marcial directed his operation and Emergency Medical Service
(EMS) personnel to set up motorist assistance (Lakbay Alalay) and friendly
tourist booth in their area of responsibility starting March 25, 2013.
“This
undertaking aims to show readiness on the part of our firefighters in providing
safety services and in rendering medical and rescue assistance to the motorists
and to anyone during emergency situation,” SInsp Marcial said as he instructed
his men during the Troops Information and Education Meeting to activate their
strategic plan in anticipation of the influx of vacationists. Each station and
sub-station commanders were also directed to post their designated areas.
Sorsogon
City fire trucks and crew were deployed along maharlika Highway in Brgy.
Cabid-an, Sorsogon City while the Bacon Fire Sub-station deployed its fire
truck and crew near the Bacon Gasoline Station in Brgy. Balete, Bacon District.
The fire truck and crew of Abuyog Fire Sub-station2 were deployed near the
Petron Gasoline Station along Maharlika Highway in Brgy. Abuyog, East District.
In
addition, the BFP will also extend assistance to all devoted Catholics who will
join the procession on Good Friday. Subsequent to the recently conducted
Clean-Up Drive at Bacon Beach Resorts, the team will also conduct “Oplan
Baywatch” where the BFP will render medical and rescue services to all beach
goers particularly to tourists who prefer to spend their summer vacation and
reunion on beaches this coming Black Saturday.
Meanwhile,
the BFP also partnered with other government agencies so as to realize this
undertaking aiming at promoting public safety as well as avoid untoward
incidents in observance of these holy days.
