Mahalagang papel ng kabataan tampok sa Youth Empowerment Summit

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Oktubre 25 (PIA) – Matagumpay na natapos ang dalawang araw na Youth Empowerment Summit na sinimulan noong Linggo, Oktubre 23 kung saan aabot sa isanglibong mga kabataan ang nakilahok mula sa iba’t-ibang bahagi ng lalawigan ng Sorsogon.

May temang “We can Lead, We will Lead, We will Serve the Church, Community and Environment”, ang aktibidad ay pinangunahan ng Sangguniang Kabataan Sorsogon Provincial Federation.

Ayon kay SK Provincial Federation President Patrick Rodrigueza, base sa bilang ng mga lumahok at naging partisipasyon ng mga ito matagumpay nilang nakamit ang kanilang layuning maitaas ang kamalayan ng mga kabataang Sorsoganon ukol sa mahalagang papel na kanilang ginagampanan sa simbahan, sa komunidad at sa kapaligiran.

Sa unang araw, sinimulan ang aktibidad sa pamamagitan ng isang Youth Shout Out Parade at isang misa bago isinagawa ang empowerment assembly at maikling programa.

Unang tinalakay ang papel ng kabataan sa komunidad kung saan naging tagapagsalita si Engr. Ryan L. Fernandez, aktibong lider ng kabataan at guro ng Bicol University.

Tinalakay naman ni Msr. Francisco Monje, Episcopal Vicar at Vicariate ng St. Anthony of Padua Parish, ang papel ng kabataan sa simbahan, at ni Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Bicol Regional Executive Director Joselin Marcus E. Fragada ang papel na ginagampanan ng mga kabataan sa kapaligiran.

Natapos ang unang araw sa pamamagitan ng Youth Shout Out Cultural Night na ginawa sa Balogo Sports Complex.

Samantala, sa kabila ng napakalas na pag-uulan kahapon, hindi ito nakahadlang upang maisagawa ang Summit for Change kung saan ibinigay ni Sorsogon City SK Federation President Noel P. Dreu IV ang Youth Report at ang President’s Report ni SK Provincial Federation President Patrick Rodrigueza.

Nagbigay din ito ng pagkakataon upang maihayag ng mga kabataan ang kanilang mga saloobin at isyu at makabuo ng mga angkop na solusyon para matugunan ang mga isyung ito.

Matapos ang Solidarity Lunch ay nagkaroon ng Youth Forum at naging laman naman ng talakayan ang mga sumusunod: Volunteerism and Initiative: the Virtue of Service na tinalakay ni Ginoong Edgar Balasta, administrator ng CCDI, Sorsogon City; Responsiveness and Competence: the Virtue of Leadership na tinalakay naman ni Ginoong Jonathan Jaime Guerrero, dating student trustee ng Sorsogon State College.

Nagtapos ang Youth Empowerment Summit sa pamamagitan ng isang konsyetro sa pangunguna ng ng Rodrigueza Band at iba pang mga lokal na banda ng mga Kabataan dito. (PIA Sorsogon)

Irosin town to receive P63.4 M resettlement project to relocate victims of calamity

A P63.4 M resettlement project for the municipality of Irosin has been earmarked under the national calamity program in cooperation with the Community Association Initiative Program of the National Housing Authority (CAIPNHA) to relocate 788 families to safe area identified by the local government of Irosin. It can be recalled that the municipality of Irosin has been identified as one of the most vulnerable areas in the province of Sorsogon. Due to the continuous volcanic explosion of Mt. Bulusan, the volcanic debris gathered within the slopes of the volcano may erode and fall on several communities in Irosin now identified as the recipient of this project. This assessment was made by the Irosin Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDDRRMC) and has been forwarded to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Council forming the report of the province on current situation of highly vulnerable areas here. This assessment was forwarded to the National Disaster Risk Reduction for national intervention. According to the report of the PDRRMC head secretariat Jose Lopez, the resettlement project is the government's intervention to finally provide these families a permanent relocation site. Most of these families  were also affected by the past super typhoons Milenyo and Reming and are continuously being exposed to danger if not to be permanently relocated. The volcanic debris stocked within the slopes of Mt. Bulusan continue to pose as a very great danger to these communities that might be directly affected if these will be eroded specially if induced by strong rains and winds due to bad weather conditions. Mayor Eduardo E. Ong, Jr. of Irosin said that the provincial government has been very keen on looking for partner agencies who can provide these most vulnerable areas identified in the province realize the program for permanent relocation as the immediate response of government to these communities to live in safe areas, lessen government spending on constant evacuation every time there are typhoons and volcanic explosion and these communities always living in fear. The calamity fund provided is to be implemented by the Community Association Initiative Program National Housing  Authority  to  the 788 families in Irosin with a 60 sq. m lot with houses in the 10 ha area in Barangay Salvacion , 4 km away from the town center located in an elevated area . The drawing of lots to these families were conducted last Oct.19-21 to identify where their houses will be built. It will also provide certain amenities like playground to the children. According to Vhon Andre Labalan, information officer of PDRRMC, a Memorandum of Agreement has been signed by the NHA, TRM Construction and Development Corporation and the Irosin Homeowners Association to finalize the project. Meanwhile 2nd District Representative, Deogracias B. Ramos, Mayor Ong of Irosin and the Provincial Government headed by Governor Raul R. Lee have harmonized all efforts in the realization of the project specially in the desire of the national government to develop resilient communities.(PIA-SORSOGON)

Maagang regalo hatid ng DoLE Sorsogon sa mga bata

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Oktubre 24 (PIA) – Nagsimula nang mamahagi noong Martes, Oktubre 18, ng maagang regalo ang mga ahensyang nagmamalasakit sa kapakanan ng mga bata tulad ng Sorsogon City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) at lokal na pamahalaan ng lungsod sa ilalim ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Angel Tree Project.

Ayon kay City SWD Officer Me Esta apatnapung mga bata na karamihan ay mga batang manggagawa at batang lansangan ang nabigyan ng mga regalo tulad ng pagkain, gamit, personal hygiene kit at iba.

Layunin nitong mabigyan ng kasiyahan ang mga bata at matulungang maranasan ang makatanggap ng regalo mula sa mga nagmamahal sa kanila, kamag-anak man nila o hindi, at maranasan din ng mga bata na magkaroon ng dignidad upang sa kalaunan ay mapigilan ang child labor sa bansa.

Ayon naman kay DOLE Sorsogon Imelda Romanillos, magpapatuloy pa ang kanilang pamamahagi ng mga regalo lalo na sa mga batang sa murang edad pa lamang ay pinagtatrabaho na. Nakaiskedyul ang pamamahagi sa ilan pang mga lugar sa lalawigan lalo na sa may malalaking pantalan tulad ng Matnog na gagawin sa Oktubre 26, Bulan sa Oktubre 27, habang nakatakda naman sa Oktubre 28 ang pamamahagi sa Pilar.

Dagdag pa niyang nasa isangdaan dalawampung mga batang manggagawa mula sa tatlong munisipalidad at isang lungsod ng Sorsogon ang tinarget nilang mabiyayaan ng nasabing proyekto.

Sinabi ni Romanillos na sa kabila ng mababang bilang ng kaso ng child labor sa Sorsogon, hindi sila dapat na makampante kundi dapat pa umanong paigtingin ng magkakatuwang na institusyon ang kampanya laban sa child labor upang tuluyan nang masugpo ito. (PIA Sorsogon)

Livelihood program ng DepEd Sorsogon City para sa special children, tinututukan

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Oktubre 24 (PIA) – Dahilan sa mahusay na pagganap ng mga opisyal ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa lungsod ng Sorsogon, agarang tinugon ng DepEd central office ang malaon ng hiling ng mga ito na mapaglaanan sila ng pondo taon-taon para sa Livelihood Training ng mga special children.

Ayon sa isang guro ng Special Education dito sa lungsod, nais nyang matulungan ang mga mag-aaral na may espesyal na pangangailangan upang pagdating ng kanilang pagtatapos sa pag-aaral ay maari na nilang gamitin ang kanilang natutunan sa elementarya at gamitin ito sa pagpapaunlad ng kanilang mga buhay.

Ang naturang guro, lingid man sa kaalaman ng mga lokal na opisyal ng DepEd ay tahimik na gumawa ng request sa DepEd central office at nagbakasakaling humingi ng tulong dito upang maitaas ang antas ng kaalaman ng mga bata hindi lamang sa mga teyoryang makukuha sa mga libro kundi maging sa kaalaman sa paggawa sa tulong ng mga makabagong kagamitan tulad ng makina sa pananahi,makina sa paglikha ng mga aparador, muwebles at mga kagamitan sa pagluluto.

Matatandaang noong ikalawang semestre ng taong 2009, sa unang pagkakataon ay nakatanggap ng alokasyon ang special education program ng Sorsogon East Central School na direktang inilagak sa Division Office. Maging ang Sorsogon National High School ay nakatanggap din ng malaking pondo kung kaya’t agad na nabili ang mga kagamitang pangkabuhayan na kinakailangan ng mga mag-aaral ng dalawang paaralan. Taon-taon ay naglalaan na rin ang DepEd ng kaukulang pondo para sa Special Education (SPED) program.

Maging ang mga magulang ng mga bata ay masayang-masaya sapagkat sila mismo ay nadama ang pagkalinga at pagbibigay atensyon ng pamahalaan sa mga batang may espesyal na pangangailangan. Halos lahat na umano ng mga kagamitan sa loob ng silid aralan ng SPED ay mismong ang mga mag-aaral na ang nagkumpuni at gumawa.

Ayon sa mga guro ng SPED, may kapansanan man ang mga mag-aaral sa pandinig, paningin at mentalidad ay makikita pa rin ang kanilang pagsisikap na matuto sa lahat ng mga gawain at gawing normal ang kanilang pamumuhay. Hindi rin umano nagpapahuli ang mga ito sa mga paligsahan kung saan malimit silang iniimbita at pinasasali sa mga dance interpretation at art exhibit at iba pang mga aktibidad na nagpapakita ng kanilang mga natatanging talento at kakayahan sa Legazpi at Naga. Kasanggayahan Children’s Day highlights PDI storytelling and visual art workshop

SORSOGON CITY, October 24 (PIA)…. Sorsogon Arts Council spokesperson, Joseph John Perez in a coordination meeting made with PIA office here provided the details of events for this year’s Kasnggayahan Festival 2011 Children’s Day  (KFCD) Visual Arts Fair which was held at the Aemilianum Gymnasium here last Saturday, Oct. 22.

Tomas Leonor, advocate for cancer stricken children through his famous one-man walk all over the country was one of the key storytellers in the Read Along Program here, an advocacy program of the Philippine Daily Inquirer to create literacy awareness through reading. 

Leonor was together with Councilor Rosalia Laganzo Enerio from Sorsogon as main story tellers.

The children’s day activity included the Doodle Earth Visual Arts Workshop where children were exposed to the opportunity of creativity using water color and and water soluble paints for mask making, face painting, environmental art and basic painting for kids know -how.

Isabel Gile, events coordinator of the KFCD explained that the facilitators in the activity were Sorsoganon Fine Arts students of the University of the Philippines together with the Sorsogon State College architecture students.

Gile said that these students would also like to share their talents to the children to signify the enhancement of visual arts appreciation for children.

Performances from pre-school pupils were also shown while food chain mascots here performed magical tricks for children.

Gile and Perez said that this year’s KFCD will promote the literacy campaign of PDI, Eugenia Duran-Apostol, founder of PDI being a true blue Sorsoganon and would like to make Sorsogon a province that will spearhead this advocacy.

Meanwhile, the Red Roots Artist Cooperative’s Doodle Earth Workshop according to Perez is more on the enhancement of environmental awareness for children expressed through visual art. 

Hundreds of children from the province participated in the activity. Parents lauded the organizers while observing the transfer of knowledge the children gained from the fun activities presented. (PIA-SORSOGON)
