Landslide naitala sa bayan ng Bulusan

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Nobyembre 3 (PIA) – Dala ng patuloy na pag-uulan halos ay tatlong araw na ngayon, isang minor landslide ang naitala sa may Ariman-Bulusan Lake Junction sa Brgy. San Rafael, Bulusan, Sorsogon.

Ayon kay Sorsogon Provincial Action Officer Manro Jayco, sa ulat na ipinaabot sa kanila mula sa Bulusan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, naganap ang landslide bago dumilim kahapon. Subalit tiniyak din ng mga awtoridad sa Bulusan na agad namang rumisponde ang mga kinauukulan kung kaya’t kagabi pa ay maaari nang daanan ang lugar na naapektuhan ng nasabing pagguho ng lupa.

Sa ngayon ay hinihintay na lamang nila umano ang progress report na isusumite ng Bulusan MDRRMC kung may mga nasaktan o naapektuhan sanhi ng naganap na landslide. Ilang mga tauhan na rin ng Provincial DRRMC ang pumunta na kanina sa lugar upang magsagawa ng kaukulang inspeksyon.

Sinabi din ni Jayco na sa kasalukuyan ay wala na silang naitala pang kahalintulad na insidente at wala ring naitalang mga nagsilikas, subalit nananatiling nasa ilalaim ng kanilang masusing pagsubaybay ang mga landslide at flood-prone areas dito sa Sorsogon na kinabibilangan ng mga bayan ng Bulan, Bulusan, Magallanes, Juban, Pilar at Donsol.

Binigyang abiso na rin nila umano ang kanilang mga local DRRMC sa mga lugar na nabanggit lalo pa’t patuloy pa rin ang pag-uulan hanggang sa ngayon.

Nanawagan din siya sa mga Sorsoganon lalo na sa mga naninirahan malapit sa mga paanan ng kabundukan at malalapit sa mga ilog at dagat na sa panahong tulad nito ay maging alerto at handa sa anumang mga pangyayaring hindi inaasahan. (PIA Sorsogon)

Kasanggayahan Festival 2011 ends with Pantomina sa Tinampo and a Mardi Grass

SORSOGON CITY, NOVEMBER 3 (PIA)…… The month long celebration of the Kasanggayahan Festival  (KF) 2011 ended last Sunday, October 30 with hundreds of people lining the main thorough fare of Magsaysay and Rizal Sts.

here to witness the well-awaited  Pantomina sa Tinampo, with contingents coming from different local government units, schools and other organization as competing entities.

Pantomina sa Tinampo as well expressed in the book of Reynaldo T. Jamoralin, “Tracing: from Solsogon to Sorsogon”, speaks of this activity as a courtship dance, reflective of the Bikol's culture and usually danced in fiestas, weddings  and eventually was executed since in the streets here when the first Kasanggayahan Festival was celebrated in the province in1974.

Donning multi- colored festival costumes, highlighting a newly married couple  as main feature and lead dancers, complete with lechon (crackling pig) as add on props , participating teams  danced their hearts out not worried of the hot weather, sashaying  gracefully  and swaying to the usual rhythm of the Pantomina de Mayor music, while people watching getting photos of performers from either  their mobile phones or cameras.

This festival dance usually closes the event for the KF as it symbolizes the highlight of the celebration expressed in the merriment of Pantomina dancer.

Councilor Jun Daraman, event organizer said that there were 11 participating contenders  in the competition. All were really well prepared, have shown grace and mastery of steps, synchronized movements and were still all smiles even when some were already dancing in the dark because of the time it ended.

The competition started at 3:00 in the afternoon and lasted almost at 7:00 in the evening.

Manuel Babasa one of the judges said that 80% of the judging was based on  the final choreographed presentation of the participants which was held at the Balogo Sports Complex.

Meanwhile, an all Gay Mardi Grass preceded the Pantomina sa Tinampo with all the drums loudly beating, and the dancers some were scantily clad wearing more skimpy creative attires,some with just the out of this world fashion came gyrating in the streets, doing a truly fast- rhythmic dance.

People watching showed different  mixed reactions and according to one of the dancers interviewed, perhaps because it was the first time that this was held, and the sense of appreciation is something to be worked on as Sorsogon still is not so much exposed to this kind of show different from other provinces who are accustomed to gay participation when it comes to festivals.

Competing participants in the pantomina according to Sorsoganon Kami Inc. president Michael Sulit , the  first prize winner run off with P100,000.00 cash prize and went to Barangay Macalaya,Castilla , the second place with P75,000.00 was bagged by the local government of Pilar while the third place received P50,000.00 prize money won by the sorsogon State College while the Best in Costume, went still to barangay Macalaya, Castilla and with a pot money of P25,000.00.

The Kasanggayahan Festival 2011 was indeed according to Sulit, a shared effort of the people of Sorsogon , a unifying activity that should be made one cultural event that should gain maturity, promote camaraderie, a sense of oneness and pride as a people and finally to become an economic enterprise to enliven the business sector here and boost tourism.

Meanwhile ,  Kasanggayahn Foundation Inc., chairman, Msgr. Francisco Monje expressed his appreciation for  the support provided by the local and national officials, all sectors of the society and all the people in the province of Sorsogon who made the event a success. (PIA-SORSOGON)

Todos Los Santos naging maulan; zero crime incidence naitala ng PNP

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Nobyembre 2 (PIA) – Hindi naging hadlang para sa mga Sorsoganon na nais dumalaw sa sementeryo ang halos ay buong maghapon at magdamag na pag-uulan.

Naobserbahang marami pa rin ang bumisita sa sementeryo na nagdala na lamang ng payong at naglagay ng mga tent malapit sa puntod ng kanilang mga mahal sa buhay, subalit mapapansing mas kakaunti ang nagpaumaga sa sementeryo kung ikukumpara noong nakaraang taon.

Naging kampante naman ang mga mamamayan dahilan sa pagiging visible ng mga awtoridad hindi lamang mga kapulisan kundi maging ang Philippine Army, Bureau of Fire Protection, mga barangay official at tanod, civic groups at iba pang mga institusyong nagnanais maging payapa at maayos ang obserbasyon ng Undas.

Naging matiwasay naman ang maghapon at magdamag at walang naitalang mga negatibong insidente kaugnay ng obserbasyon ng Todos los Santos. Ayon sa pamunuan ng Philippine National Police Sorsogon, nakatulong ang pag-ulan ng malakas dahilan upang makapagtala sila ng ‘zero crime incidence’ dito. Tiniyak din nito na magpapatuloy pa rin ang kanilang operasyon para sa ‘Oplan Kaluluwa’ para sa pagdagsa pa ng mga bibisita sa sementeryo ngayong araw.

Ngayong umaga kung saan tumila na rin sa wakas ang ulan ay muli na namang nakita ang pagdagsa ng mga tao sa sementeryo na karamihan ay yaong hindi nakapunta kahapon at kagabi dahilan na rin sa hindi magandang lagay ng panahon.

Samantala, sa kabila ng mahigpit na paalala at panawagan ng Department of Environment and Natural Resources at mga environmentalist, marami pa ring mga basura ang iniwan partikular ng mga nagbenta ng bulaklak, mga maliliit na tindahang naglatag ng paninda sa mga kalye at maging ng mismong mga bumisita sa sementeryo, subalit mabilis naman itong naaksyunan ng mga street sweepers kung kaya’t bago pa man lumiwanag ngayong umaga ay malinis na ang mga lugar dito.

Sa kabilang dako, naobserbahang kahapon pa ay dagsa na ang mga pasahero sa mga istasyon ng bus at pantalan dito na papaalis ng Sorsogon. Maliban sa mga pasaherong bumisita dito sa lalawigan ay sumabay din sa dagsa ng mga pasahero ang mga estudyanteng bibyahe pabalik na rin sa kani-kanilang mga destinasyon dahilan sa pagtatapos ng semestral break at enrolment para sa ikalawang semestre.

Maluwag naman ang daloy ng trapiko sa kabisera ng lungsod ng Sorsoogn dahilan sa nananatiling walang pasok pa rin ang mga mag-aaral ngayon subalit sa panig ng mga opisina at bangko ay balik na sa normal ang transaksyon ngayong araw. (PIA Sorsogon)

‘Deaf Awareness Week’ gaganapin sa Nobyembre 6-12

Lungsod ng Sorsogon, Nobyembre 2 (PIA) – Inatasan ni Department of Education (DepEd) Sorsogon City Schools Division Superintendent Virgilio Real ang mga superbisor na lumahok at pagrekomendahin ang mga guro sa Special Education (SPED) center ng lungsod na magpadala ng mga piling hearing impaired students o hindi nakakarinig na mga mag-aaral upang sumali sa gaganaping selebrasyon ng Deaf Awareness Week.

Ang atas ay ayon na rin sa bisa ng Memorandum Order na ipinadala ni DepEd OIC regional director Orfelina Tuy ng Regional Office No.5 sa tanggapan ni Dr. Real kung saan hinihikayat niyang aktibong lumahok sa Deaf Awareness Week celebration ang mga batang may espesyal na pangangailangan na gaganapin sa Naga City simula Nobyembre 6 hanggang Nobyembre 12 ngayong taon.

Aabot sa labingtatlong mga mag-aaral na may kapansanan sa pandinig at tatlong SPED teachers at dalawang SPED supervisor ang ipapadala bilang delegasyon ng Sorsogon City.

Ayon kay Director Tuy, kasamang lalahukan ng Bicol Deaf Adults and Youth Organization ang ikalawang taong obserbasyong ito at magkakaroon din umano ng kompetisyon sa iba’t-ibang mga kategoryang binuo.

Kabilang sa mga aktibidad na gagawin ay ang Fun Run, banal na misa, opening program at paglalatag ng mga produktong gawa ng mga special children upang makita ng publiko sa loob ng isang linggo.

Magkakaroon din ng Cheerdance competition at makikipagtalastasan ang mga partisipante sa mga hurado hinggil sa buhay ng isang taong may kapansanan sa pandinig, dalawang araw na "Basic Photography Seminar", Self-Defense Skills Taining, dalawang araw na Gender Awareness Rights and Legal Access seminar kasabay ang Basic Sign Language Training para sa mga mag-aaral na hearing impaired at Bicol deaf adults and youth.

Magkakaroon din ng pagalingan ng sayaw sa ikaanim na araw habang gaganapin naman ang pamamahagi ng award at pagtatapos ng aktibidad sa Nobyembre 12.

Harassment of suspected NPA rebels noted anew

Sorsogon City, Oct 31- New Peoples’ Army rebels allegedly harassed a far-off community in Bulusan town, Sorsogon leading to a clash with countering Army soldiers early morning yesterday. 
 

Colonel Felix Castro, Commander of the army’s 903rd Brigade based in Castilla town said that the clash occurred in barangay Tinampo at around 7:00 in the morning.

“I directed Lieutenant Colonel Epimaco Macalisang, Commander of the 49^th Infantry Battalion to send a team of soldiers upon receiving reports from local residents about the bandits’ extortion activities,” Castro said in a statement.

The seven-man team led by 1^st Lieutenant Jerry Colago was moving towards the spot when they were fired upon by 10 bandits, setting off a gunfight.

The outlaws ran off with their casualties after a ten-minute firefight, leaving behind some of their firearms including an M16 rifle, Garand rifle, caliber 45 pistol and improvised bombs.

Consequently, pursuit operations were launched by the Army to make certain a peaceful observation of “Undas” in the area.

Army Chief Lieutenant Arturo Ortiz earlier directed all Army field units to be on their guard for possible NPA attacks during “Undas.” (VLabalan P.I.O/PA)
