S2-DEO is “Best Engineering District” in Bicol Region

GUBAT, SORSOGON, January 13 – A feat for the Engineering District. The bestowal of the awards as the “Best District Engineering Office” for 2011 in the whole Bicol region was an added distinction for the Sorsogon 2nd District Engineering Office (S2-DEO) and in the administration of District Engineer Jake Alamar.

In less than a year of DE Alamar’s stint as District Engineer of the Sorsogon II DEO, he assumed the role of an administrator/fiscal manager and under his stewardship, the office instituted various reforms and improvements.

The efficient implementation of programs and projects and the output-oriented service rendered by the rank and file employees up to its officials has resulted to a wide-ranging achievement for the 2nd Engineering District of Sorsogon.

“The criteria for the selection of the ‘Best DEO’ in the whole Bicol region have been complied such as Maintenance Rating, Quality Control, Construction Accomplishment (the fair execution of various projects, i.e. regular infra, MVUC, PDAF, VILP, RWCS, among others) and the Absorptive Capacity,” said DE Alamar.

Aside from the fair execution of various programs and projects, the Sorsogon 2nd DEO under DE Alamar and Assistant DE Romeo F. Cielo has embarked on a string of reforms and improvements in the office’s operations. Memoranda and guidelines have been released to augment efficient work output, thereby making public service the top most concern of each personnel.

The award was decided by the Management Committee (ManCom), Central Office and was personally handed-over by no less than the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary, Hon. Rogelio L. Singson to DE Alamar.

S2-DEO personnel were all exultant with the award and recognition received, this being the first for the Sorsogon 2nd District Engineering Office. (Harry E. Deri, DPWH S2-DEO/PIA Sorsogon)
