SORSOGON
CITY – A lesbian was arrested by personnel of Casiguran Minicipal Police
Station in connection with the rape of a 14 year old schoolgirl in Barangay
Rizal, Casiguran, this province.
The
suspect, also a minor, was arrested yesterday, July 24, about 7:49 AM at her
residence in Bgy. Colambis, in said town.
The
lesbian, and another suspect, a certain Fermin Camposano Habitan had been in
hiding for six months after learning that a warrant for their arrest had been
issued last January by Hon. Judge Flerida Zaballa of RTC Branch 51.
The
suspect is now temporary committed at Haven-Substitute Home Care for Women in
Bgy. Nasisi, Ligao City, Albay.
The
Haven is a social welfare and development facility located at the Department of
Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) complex. It provides temporary shelter
and protective custody to women ages 18-59 years old, not only of victims of
various abuses, but of women in detention as in the case of the minor lesbian
suspect.
The
incident of rape occurred on September 2, 2011 inside the house of Habitan.
Crime
scene investigators together with barangay officials and the victim’s parents
swooped down on the man’s home, where they processed a room where the incident
is said to have occurred and seized several items of clothing belonging to the
victim.
According
to police report, the suspects, after inducing the victim to drink alcoholic
beverages, commence the commission of rape directly by overt acts, while during
the dizziness of the victim. It was around 8:00 PM when the victim was found by
her father and sister inside the cabinet, located in the room of Habitan,
unconscious.
Medico
Legal Report issued by Municipal Health Officer (MHO) of Casiguran revealed
that the victim had been sexually assaulted.
Several
days after the incident, the victim was taken to a hospital for medical
treatment due to Depression secondary to sexual trauma.
The
suspects were charged for Violation of RA 8353 (Anti-Rape Law of 1997) and
Violation of RA 7610 (Violence against Women and Children).
Fermin
Habitan, resident of Bgy. Rizal, Casiguran, still remains at large. (MHatoc/PIA
