PNP Sorsogon conducted symposium on Drug Abuse prevention and Control

SORSOGON CITY, November 20 (PIA) – Fifty (50) third year and fourth year students of the Annunciation College of Bacon Sorsogon Unit in Brgy. Bibincahan, Sorsogon City were oriented on the evils of drug abuse and the basics of its prevention and control.

According to Women and Children Protection Desk Police Inspector Jennifer Pertez of Sorsogon Police Provincial Office (SPPO), the said symposium on drug abuse prevention and control was organized by the SPPO on November 16, 2012 at the same school in connection with the observance of the Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week. 

Pertez said that the activity they conducted aimed at increasing the awareness of the community about the unfavorable effects of illegal drugs on the health of every individual.

Police Chief Inspector Nonito F. Marquez, Police Community Relations Officer of the SPPO, meanwhile, discussed the effects of drug abuse to drug dependents. He gave emphasis on the harmful effects of drug abuse and likewise promoted healthy lifestyle among the young people.

Drug Abuse and Control Week is celebrated every third week of November pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 124.

This year’s Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week is November 11-17, 2012 with the theme “Kalusugan ay Kayamanan, Droga ay Iwasan”.  (BARecebido, PIA Sorsogon/SPPO))
