903rd Bde releases two “Pawikans” in Castilla. For the second time in March, the 903rd Infantry Brigade headed by 903rd Brigade Commander Colonel Joselito E. Kakilala, released two sea turtles locally known as “Pawikan” in Castilla seaport, Brgy Poblacion, Castilla, Sorsogon, on March 24, 2013 at 2o’clock in the afternoon. Report said that the two pawikans were brought to the Brigade headquarters by a Bantay-Dagat team leader named Eugene “Botak” Juliam, who said it was rescued by a certain, Jorge Arejo, a local fisherman in Brgy Querapi, Castilla, Sorsogon. One sea turtle measures 33.5” length and 29” width weighing around 70kgs, while the other one has 17” length and 14” width weighing around 20kgs. No BFAR tag was seen attached to the turtles, an indication that it was captured and released for the first time.
