BFP Sorsogon City sponsors mass deworming in selected schools
SORSOGON CITY, June 23 (PIA) - The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Sorsogon City spearheaded by Sorsogon City Fire Marshal SInsp Walter Badong Marcial, is sponsoring deworming exercises at selected elementary schools throughout Sorsogon City.
Said program dubbed as “Deworming Day” was initially carried out at Our Lady’s Village (OLV) Elementary School in Brgy. Bibincahan on June 13, 2013 benefiting 150 school children.
Prior to this, FO1 Maricur G Destajo, Chief of Emergency Medical Service Section of the BFP Sorsogon City led the team on the conduct of information drive regarding the infestation and transmission of the parasitic helminthes as well as its effect on the physical and mental being of the children.
“It is our way of helping the community to promote wellness among the school age and preschool children through mass elimination of parasitic helminthes”, said SINSP Marcial as he pointed out the importance of good hygiene through the guidance of the parents as well as the support given by the other sectors of the community such as the BFP itself.
Another mass deworming activity will be conducted by the team on June 24, 2013, at the Sorsogon Pilot Elementary School in Brgy. Talisay.
SInsp Marcial also takes the opportunity to continuously inform the public on fire safety tips and disseminates the BFP Sorsogon City contact/hotline numbers: 421-6320; 211-7996/09072927215/09072927266 in case of fire and other related emergency situations. (BARecebido, PIA Sorsogon/MGECorral, BFP)

(FBTumalad, PIA Sorsogon)
