OPAPP peace and development initiatives in Gubat and Barcelona towns for inauguration tomorrow

SORSOGON CITY, Feb. 23 (PIA)…. Four infrastructure projects to boost the peace building initiatives and development conditions in the Province of Sorsogon are set to be inaugurated in Gubat and Barcelona towns tomorrow Feb. 24, under the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP).

OPAPP ASec. Howard B. Cafugan together with Sorsogon Governor Raul R. Lee will lead the inauguration ceremony together with Vicente Selles Zaragozi of the Agencia Espanola Cooperacion International  para del Desarollo (AECID) , OPAPP  Director Maria Eileen Jose and Director Marivel Sacendillo of the Local Government  Academy of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)  in two separate venues.

In Sta. Ana, Gubat, the finished projects to be inaugurated and to be turned over to the community through Barangay Captain Romulo Epino are the Apgo Barangay Road and opening of Access Road of the Sta. Ana-Beriran situated at the Brgy. Poblacion,

From Gubat, the OPAPP entourage will proceed to Barcelona and at 2:30 PM Mayor Manuel Fortes will witness another turn-over ceremony of the Layog-Penaric Communal Irrigation System, Repair of the Irrigators Association Office, and Construction of the Operations and Coordinating Center for Peace Alliance and will be received by the Barcelona Development Cooperative (BADECO).

These projects are part of the Sorsogon Initiatives through the joint efforts of OPAPP; the DILG-LGA and funded by Spain’s AECID.

The Sorsogon Initiatives aims to empower local communities through enhancing their participation in local governance, and involving them in the preparation and implementation of peace and development projects in their local communities as a way to bring development. (PIA-SORSOGON)
