Governor Lee confident of 2013 DOH projects for Sorsogon

SORSOGON CITY, Jan 30 (PIA) – Governor Raul R. Lee earnestly articulated his recognition of the assistance extended by the Department of Health (DOH) to the Province of Sorsogon.

In return to DOH Secretary Enrique T. Ona’s call for Provincial and Local Government Units to support Philhealth, Governor Lee echoed the former’s statement to enhance enrollment in the national health insurance program.

Secretary Ona was here past Thursday and his itinerary included visits to health facilities under the Provincial Government, particularly in the municipalities of Putiao, Castilla, Sorsogon City, Irosin, Bulan and Matnog.

The Governor also took note of the remark made by the Secretary during his visit to rural health units and birthing facilities which according to the latter was “very impressive.”

“Pictures don’t lie so, it’s for you to judge the results of these projects, “Lee said in a statement after a status presentation from the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

“The DOH projects here in Sorsogon are being downloaded to us probably because they trust us,” He also said. With self-assurance, he further said that with the first light of 2013 projects, DOH would again share out new developments for the province.

At the moment, structures of newly accomplished and ongoing developments exist in Putiao, Pilar as well as Donsol, Castilla, Juban, Barcelona, Bulusan, Santa Magdalena, Bulan, Magallanes, Gubat, Prieto Diaz, Irosin and Matnog. Particularly in progresses are the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital new building and rehabilitation of the hospital on hand (Php 108 million), full operationalization of the dialysis center (Php 7.0 million) and establishment of the Physical Rehabilitation Center (Php 3 million). With continuing projects, PHO data report shows that Php 180.0 million stands for 2012’s financial plan (Php 29.0 M for 2011).

PHO’s appeal to DOH is for the completion of the new building’s 2nd floor (Php 40-M), purchase of CT scan (Php 30-M), purchase of five units dialysis machines (Php 8-M), digital x-ray (Php 7-M), one unit ultrasound (Php 5-M), installation of oxygen generating plant (Php 25-M), four units sea ambulances (Php 10-M).
