LUNGSOD NG SORSOGON, Abril 17 (PIA) – Ilulunsad ngayong araw ng dalawang magkatuwang na non-government organization (NGO) dito sa Sorsogon ang kampanyang “Ako Responsable Huwaran!”, sa ilalim ng programang Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) ng Federation of Associations for Communities and Children’s Empowerment Incorporated (FACE) at ng Child Fund Philippines.

Ayon kay Chit F. Novela, community mobilizer ng FACE sa Bicol, ang paglulunsad ng kampanyang “Ako Responsable Huwaran!” ay may layuning maitaas ang antas ng kamalayan ng publiko ukol sa ARH program at sa patuloy na pagpupunyagi ng FACE at Child Fund Philippines na masuportahan ang mga programa ng pamahalaan ukol sa mga Pilipinong kabataan.

Inaasahang magbibigay ng mensahe si Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liduvina Dorion, Bicol Area Manager ng Child Fund Philippines Pedro L. Tamayo, at National Director ng Child Fund Philippines Katherine K. Manik.

Tatalakayin din ni FACE Federation President Gloria Lorena R. Senosin ang ARH Campaign: “AKo Responsable Huwaran!”, habang ang mga kinatawan naman ng Board of Trustees at iba pang stakeholders ang maghahayag ng kanilang statement of support sa kampanyang “AKo Responsable Huwaran!”.

Ipapakita din ang mga resulta ng ginawang sining ng mga benepisyaryong kabataan sa pamamagitan ng isang exhibit.

Sinabi din ni Novela na tinututukan ng kampanya ang lebel ng kamalayan upang ganap na maging responsable ang mga kabataan sa kanilang sarili at sa kanilang kapwa kabataan lalo pa’t sila ang kadalasang nalalantad sa eksplotasyon at mga pang-aabusong sekswal. Katuwang umano nila ang Department of Social Welfare and Development sa pagpapatupad ng programang ito.

Ang programang ARH na tinatawag din nilang 15-24 program ay nakatuon sa mga kabataang edad labing-lima (15) hanggang dalawampu’t-apat (24) kung saan bahagi ng ginagawa ng FACE ay ang pag-oorganisa sa mga ito at pagtulong sa mga kabataan upang mabigyan ng maaayos na kinabukasan tulad ng pagbibigay ng socialized educational assistance sa anumang napili nilang dalawang taong kursong bokasyunal, at pag-enrol sa mga ito sa Alternative Learning System (ALS) ng DepEd sa pakikipagkawing sa Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) nang sa gayon ay mabigyan ng kaukulang kasanayan at pag-unalad ang mga kabataang ito.

Sinasanay din nila ang mga kabataan na magkaroon ng kumpyansa sa kanilang sarili sa pamamagitan ng paglinang ng mga angking galing nito. Isa na rito ang pagho-host sa “Balitang Bata”, isang radio program ng mga batang naka-enrol sa Child Fund na isinasahimpapawid ng DZGN-FM tuwing huling Linggo bawat buwan.

Dagdag pa ni Novela na mayroon ding formation session kung saan ang mga kabataan na rin ang nagsasagawa nito.

Ang ARH ay nasa pangatlong taon na ng implementasyon sa pangunguna ng FACE na pinopondohan naman ng Child Fund Philippines. Benepisyaryo nito ang bayan ng Pili sa Camarines Sur at ang lungsod ng Sorsogon at mga bayan ng Irosin, Bulan at Matnog sa lalawigan naman ng Sorsogon kung saan umaabot sa mahigit 3,000 mga indibidwal ang benepisyaryo nito. Pagtitiyak ni Novela na hanggat may Child Fund ay mananatili ang mga programa ng FACE sa rehiyon ng Bicol. (BARecebido, PIA Sorsogon)

NGO launches “Ako Responsable Huwaran!” campaign in Sorsogon

SORSOGON CITY, April 17 (PIA) – To strengthen public awareness on the Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) as well as promote the on-going effort of the Federation of Associations for Communities and Children’s Empowerment Incorporated (FACE) and the Child Fund Philippines in support to the government programs for Filipino youths, an advocacy campaign that would develop responsible youths is launched today in this city.

FACE community mobilizer for Bicol Chit F. Novela, said the “Ako Responsable Huwaran!” campaign under the Adolescent Reproductive Health (ARH) program implemented by FACE and funded by the Child Fund Philippines is in close partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and will focus on the awareness level making Sorsogon’s youths more responsible of themselves and that of the others as well, particularly that they are most vulnerable to exploitation and sexual abuses.

Expected to give messages during the launching are Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liduvina Dorion, Bicol Area Manager Pedro L. Tamayo, and National Director of Child Fund Philippines Katherine K. Manik.

FACE Federation President Gloria Lorena R. Senosin will discuss the ARH Campaign: “AKo Responsable Huwaran!” to give the participants a comprehensible idea regarding the campaign and the program as well.

An exhibit of the craftsmanship of their youth beneficiaries will be displayed in the area.

The ARH program which they also call 15-24 program zeros in to Filipino youths age 15 to 24. FACE organizes and helps them have good opportunities in the future by way of providing socialized educational assistance to a 2-yr vocational course of their choice and enrolling them to DepEd’s Alternative Learning System (ALS) in coordination with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for skills enhancement.

Children enrolled in Child Fund are also trained to have self-confidence by honing their talents, one of which is anchoring or hosting the “Balitang Bata” radio program aired over DZGN-FM every last Sunday of the month.

Novela further said that members of the youth they organized are trained to conduct formation activities for barangay youths and facilitate child development sessions of their juniors, the 6 to 14 year-old youths.

ARH is now on its 3rd year of implementation with nearly 3,500 individual beneficiaries. Benefiting from this program is the town of Pili in Camarines Sur as well as the City of Sorsogon (specifically in Barangays Balogo, Bitan-o, Sampaloc, Talisay, Sirangan and Piot) and the towns of Irosin (Brgys. Macawayan, Buenavista, San isidro, Batang, Salvacion and Casini); Bulan (Brgys. San isidro, Sta Teresita and Gate); and Matnog (Brgys. Laboy, Sisigon, Pangi, Hidhid, Bolo and Tabunan), all in the province of Sorsogon. (BARecebido, PIA Sorsogon)
