Completion of Ariman Junction to improve tourism destinations' accessibility

SORSOGON CITY, June 23 (PIA) ---- "The 20 million Php allocation coming from the national government to upgrade two road sections here in Municipality of Barcelona is one of the infrastructure components of the PNoy administration of boosting tourism destinations' , accessibility in the countryside , the two other components are attraction and  activity which we all have", Congressman Deogracias B. Ramos, representative of the 2nd district of the province of Sorsogon said in an interview here last week during the Ginubat Festival in his hometown, Gubat.

The report submitted by District Engineer Juanito Alamar  of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) , Office of the 2nd District Engineer on the near completion of about 86% of the Ariman Junction - Bulusan Road concreting project according to Ramos will trigger more tourism access and provide economic activities to most of the municipalities in the second district linked by the said road section.

According to the report of Engr. Alamar, the two road components divided into two road sections with an aggregate length of 902.88 meters with the first section  in  Barangay Tagdon  is with 610+499.55 km and 610+920.80 km and in Macabar, which is the second section is  614+277km and 614+758.63 km , all in the Municipality of Barcelona. 

These road componnets  will provide A-1 access to several second district municipalities like Bulusan, Irosin, Matnog and Bulan.

Hopefully the Ariman-Junction-Bulusan road will be completed at the end of July this year.

Alamar said that these road components lead to the famous Bulusan Volcano Natural Park (BVNP) considered as one of the best natural parks in the Philippines , and a prime tourism destination here in the province which the DPWH constantly oversees and maintains  in terms of accessibility development.

Ramos also expressed that the access road opened by the Ariman Junction will also provide safer and faster travels for tourists to a lot of tourism destinations in the municipalities of the second district known for its varied attractions and tourism activities like festivals.

"I am aware that tourism today is one of the  best economic uplifter of communities. As representative of the second district , I have also refiled the  Bulusan Volcano Natural Park Environmental Code (BVNPEC). The bill will when apporved will provide more development funds for the BVNP and institute best environmental sustainable - measures" , Ramos also expressed.

This allocation according to Ramos is a carry over for infrastructure development from calendar year 2010 primarily to upgrade the road sections from asphalt to concrete which is more durable.

"With the near completion of the road access, tourism opportunities and accessibility will be more opened to the municipalities of Irosin known for its hot and cold water bodies, Matnog for its scenic Subic Beach and Tikling Island and Bulan as a growing  tourism business hub, it being just like Matnog , a gateway to the south and the north" Ramos also expressed.

"Our congressional office is now working actively to complement the Department of Tourism's (DOT) thrust to make tourism the primary attraction of our province. Here we have the best of ecotourism sites, natural and not just-man made. ", according to Ramos .

"That is why we have to make these accessible to tourists and propel our province's economy by providing better and safer roads." (PIA-Sorsogon)
