KULINARYA KALAYAAN: A PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE FOOD FESTIVAL

DILIMAN, QUEZON CITY – What us a celebration without food? This year as the Filipino Nation celebrates its 114th Philippine Independence on June 12, a traditionally Filipino Food Festival has been cooked up by the Department of Tourism (DOT) in cooperation with the Hotel and Restaurant Association of the Philippines.

From June 10 to 20 2012, the Filipino Food Festival will take place in Metro Manila and other major cities in the country. KulinaryaKalayaan: A Philippine Independence Food Festival will feature a sumptuous array of Filipino food that were believed to have been regarded as favorite dishes of our national heroes like Dr. Jose Rizal, Andres Bonifacio, ApolinarioMabini, Juan Luna, etc.

Information on the favorite dishes of other Filipino heroes and wrap on how Filipino food was prepared in different ears of Philippine history will be provided by Filipino Food Connoisseurs and Food Expert Mila Enriquez. The HRAP has enjoined the participation of the following hotels and restaurants: Makati Shangrila, Century Park Hotel, Waterfront, Hyatt Hotel Manila, LJC, Bellevae, Bayview Park Hotel, Illustrado, Harbor view, Bacolod Inasal, Serye and Tamayo’s.

Indeed, after we have savored the taste of our heroes’ favorite dishes we can truly say that dining for our Independence Food Festival is more fun in the Philippines. (Betty Lou Peñera, PIA)
