DPWH-S2DEO fully completed five preventive maintenance projects


SORSOGON CITY, August 6 (PIA) – Following the government’s mandate on transparency and efficiency in dealing with programs and projects, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Sorsogon 2 District Engineering Office (DPWH-S2DEO) has conducted an on the dot and proper handling and implementation strategies of the projects being executed by the office.

These strategies are likewise in line with the department’s dictum: “Right Project, Right Cost, Right Quality and Right Time”.

District Engineer Jake Alamar said that for this year’s allotment of funds, a large chunk was appropriated for road rehabilitation and improvement, and a fraction of which was set aside for the preventive maintenance of the roads.

“More than P35-M allocated for the preventive maintenance function was released, utilized and contained for selected (national primary and secondary) roads of the Second Congressional and Engineering Office,” said Alamar.

The upgrading of the national arterial as well as secondary roads, of which some has critical or serious condition, has been hastily implemented.

The DPWH-S2DEO takes pride in reporting that five preventive maintenance projects are now fully accomplished namely: Preventive Maintenance of Gate-Bulan Airport Road (KO631+300 – KO631+800) with a Php4-M funding awarded to Green Zone Construction and Supply; Preventive Maintenance of Daang Maharlika (KO613+350 – KO613+885) in Brgy. Bolos, Irosin, Sorsogon with an allocation of Php7-M; Preventive Maintenance of Daang Maharlika (KO634+000 – KO634+474) in Brgy. Pange, Matnog, Sorsogon with a funding of Php6.756-M; Preventive Maintenance along Juban-Magallanes Road (KO607+000 – KO608+430) in Juban, Sorsogon with a funding of Php10-M; and the Preventive Maintenance of Junction Gubat-Pto Diaz Road (KO599+(-041) – Ko599+959) along Cogon and Gubat with a fund allocation of Php8.136-M.

The four projects were all awarded to Hi-Tone Construction and Development Corporation.

Alamar also said that for the Current Year 2012, the office has implemented and likewise bent on implementing various programs and projects that will certainly reap positive results to the local populace. “With the completion of said preventive maintenance works for these national roads, commuters and the riding public will surely find ease in travelling and transporting their goods and services,” he added.

The implementation of preventive maintenance is imperative with the copious rate of roads that are now deteriorating due to long years of service to all types of road vehicles and exposure to natural/environmental hazards and factors. (HDeri, DPWH-S2DEO/BARecebido, PIA Sorsogon)
