Casiguran town hosts 4th regional leadership training for pupil and student government

SORSOGON CITY, Jan. 31 (PIA).... A total of 1,750 pupils participants comprising of pupil and student leaders attended the 4th Bicol Regional Leadership Training for Government Officers hosted by the local government of Casiguran last January 27-29 held at the Casiguran Technical Vocational High School and Casiguran Central School.

The three-day training aimed to enhance the paticipants knowledge, skills and attitudes as student leaders of their respective schools and local community by inculcating  in them the values of cooperation, teamwork, service, responsibility and accountability.

According to Orfelina O. Tuy, Department of Education Assistant Regional Director-Officer -In-Charge, RO 5, the training will also instill in this young leaders desirable values to inspire them to actively engage in useful programs and projects in their school and communities.

The participants are the duly elected officers of the Supreme Student Government/ School Student Government accompannied by their teacher-advisers in Social Studies, Elementary School Pupil Coordinators, Department Heads or School Principal.

The three-day activity exposed the participants to very eloquent speakers like Senator Francis Joseph "Chiz" G. Escudero who shared on the topic Leadership Challenges Towards a Better Philippines.

The mandated Programs, Projects and Activities was tackled by Franco Avelino A. Hilotin, present treasurer of the National Federation of Supreme Student Government in the Bicol Region while Jose Doncillo Division ECARp Coordinator , Division of Sorsogon shared on the topic Ethical Standards for Leadership.

Rev. Fr. Treb Futol , parish priest of St. anthony de Padua Parish  Officer-In-Charge , Office of the Regional Director, RO IV, Dr. Lorna Dig Dino shared on the topic Upgrading Basic Education :K+ 12 Initiatives.

The congress also highlighted competitions on the different categories like Quiz Bee, Poster Making Contest, Slogan Making, Essay Writing, Extemporaneous Speaking, Logo Design, all categories were participated by both the secondary and the elementary level.
Meanwhile the main event was the Search for the Ambassador and Ambassadress of Leadership participated only by the students in the secondary level, one pair per division.

Casiguran Mayor Maria Esther Hamor welcomed the delegates and and thank them especially the DepEd for choosing her town as the venue of an big affair such as this.

She said that the town of Casiguran thou small have been the venue of a lot of activities now not only within the municipality and province but also of regional activities because they have provided basic amenities such as the construction of their gymnasium that can house hundreds of participants.

"For and in behalf of the public officials of Casiguran, the constituency and personnel of the DepEd here, I would like to extend my warmest appreciation to DepEd RO 5 for choosing our town to be the venue of this leadership training, we would always welcome activities such as this as this is also our way of promoting our town our people and what we can offer," she said.
