17th PCR Month kicks-off, June 2

SORSOGON CITY, June 3 – The Sorsogon Police Provincial Office (SORPPO) joins the whole PNP organization nationwide in celebrating the 17th Police Community Relations (PCR) Month this July 2012.

PSI Eliza Paje, PCR chief and Public Relations Officer of Sorsogon PPO said that the celebration of this year’s PCR Month in SORPPO started initially with the hanging of streamers on the first day of July, and of official kick- off ceremony on July 2, 2012 with the traditional Flag Raising Ceremony inside the Camp Salvador C. Escudero, Sr, Sorsogon City.

Following the flag raising ceremony is the presentation of awards to the following individual, Local Government Unit (LGU) and group or institution: Best LGU - Sorsogon City wherein certificate of Recognition was received by City Administrator Police Chief Superintendent Ireneo B. Manaois (Ret.); Best NGO – Bicol Emergency Response Network, Sorsogon Chapter; and Best Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team (BPAT) – Brgy Catamlangan Pilar, Sorsogon.

Awarded as Best PCR- Municipal Police Station is Bulan Municipal Police Station; Best PCR City Police Station is Sorsogon City Police Station; while chosen as Best PCR Police Non-Commissioned Officer is SPO2 Edgar A. Calupit Sr.

The month long observance is mandated by Presidential Proclamation No. 764, which declares the month of July every year as Police Community Relations Month with the NAPOLCOM as the lead agency.

The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Mamamayan at Kapulisan: Patuloy ang Ugnayan sa Higit na Ligtas, Mapayapa at Maunlad na Pamayanan”.

National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Sorsogon Hearing Officer Atty. Louie E. Toldanes who was also the Guest of Honor and Speaker during the official kick-oof activity said that such theme for this year’s celebration of PCR Month is a manifestation of the established and continuing partnership of the community and the police towards the attainment of a more safe, orderly and progressive community.
